Steps to CUSP Certification

Are you Eligible?

Before you invest your time and resources into the CUSP Credential, be sure to make sure you meet the eligibility requirements by answering the two questions below.

CUSP Blue Eligibility Requirements:
Operations Management, Supervisor, Foreman
  • At least 3 years of utility operations leadership experience
  • At least 1 year in a role where safety activities are a part of your job description, e.g., tailboards, safety committees, safety meetings
CUSP Green Eligibility Requirements:
Safety/Training Management
  • At least 3 years of experience in a dedicated safety or training leadership role in the utility industry

3 Steps to CUSP Certification:

APPLY

Apply for the CUSP Exam

Review and determine your CUSP eligibility, then complete the CUSP application. 

Fill out the CUSP Application online and allow the review committee 7-10 business days to review your application. Once your application is approved, then you can register for the CUSP exam and optional review.

PREPARE

Study and Prepare

Take time to study. You can prepare for the CUSP exam by registering for the optional CUSP Prep or by reviewing the preparation materials on our website. Preparation is not required but strongly encouraged. 

The CUSP Prep includes live, interactive webinars that provide an opportunity for Q&A with a utility safety expert.

TEST

Take & Pass CUSP Exam

CUSP Candidates must take and pass the base exam and at least one endorsement exam in order to become certified.
